Tinto Brass intended the movie to be an adaptation of Fanny Hill set in 1950s Italy, shortly before brothels were made illegal. The movie features the beautiful and voluptuous Deborah Caprioglio as Paprika, a young country girl who comes to town and takes a job in a brothel to help her boyfriend get the money to start his own business. But her boyfriend is not what he seems and the movie chronicles her trials and triumphs as she learns to enjoy and excel in her newfound profession.
